Shiny button is defective

On the daily comic page there is a shiny green button inviting
me to Become a DEFENDER!
I push it. It takes me to the Defender login page. This makes me
sad.
I see another shiny green button below it. I push it. This one also
takes me to the login page.
So I have to login as a defender to join and become a member but I
can't login until I join but to join I need to login.
I think I need a nap now.
