Join defender's link(s) do not work

The links to join the defenders do not work, and result in a 500 server error.
Specifically, both the menu items
[Buy Stuff] -> [Defenders of the Nifty] and
[Defenders of the Nifty] -> [Join!]
link to http://sluggy.com/public/defenders, which doesn't work.
http://www.sluggy.com/public/defenders also doesn't work.
